Default With GW2 info released...will people try WoW?

In the thread about GW2, many users voiced their opinion that they should just "give up and go play WoW."

Of course, many of those comments were facetious. But are there any players even considering switching, or even trying the 10 day trial?

Obviously, I've been with WoW for awhile...but haven't played in a bit. Waiting for a new server, since leveling can be a little annoying on old servers. (i.e. few people to level with you. It's just lonely. Not any different from playing all of Nightfall with heroes.)

But I recommend that several people on these forums go start the trial, go roll as the same race on the same server, and try it out.

I am considering it. But I probably won't switch, I don't like that garbage p2p stuff. I am just EXTREMELY mad about not being able to transfer characters. Like I think MANY people think like this. We have worked on these characters and payed for our Ascended armor and our Elemental Swords and now what are they good for. When GW2 comes out they will mean nothing, and we will all be noobs again. On the bright side it resets the GW economy.

I think GW2 will break off a LOT of players now who will switch to other games. But at the same time it will attract many WoW and ex-WoW players because of the better graphics and such. And of course the F2P.

Well, there is no way I would play a pay-to-play game, so no I won't be crossing over to WoW. Not only that, but WoW style gameplay doesn't really appeal to me, so if GW takes that path (which is the feel I'm getting...) I probably will just quit playing, which is not a bad thing imo.

Even if I did like WoW gameplay (I don't know what else to call it, maybe GW2 gameplay? *shudders*) I am fairly certain GW2 will be vastly superior to WoW, especially as WoW will be getting somewhat dated.

Tried WoW for 120 days... didn't like it

There's this huge 600 page debate on WoW vs. GW somewhere around here. Interesting read.

Uhh. i think you're forgetting that Guild Wars 2 is a *NEW* game. who cares about the old crap.. its a new game.. new game.. say it with me, new game. I think some of the people in this community should realize theres something in life called ''Moving on'' but I'll leave that up to you. Anyways personally i wont ever play wow because i have never liked that game, and refuse to pay monthly fees, however I Might get guild wars 2 when it comes out.. but for now I'm practically done with the whole gaming scene as a whole.

I think people dont like change. It makes them uncomfortable.

Look at what happens when we get skill changes.

This is way beyond a skill change.

Guild Wars itself is hated by many MMORPGers i know because of its fundamental differences and changes to the basic MMO design that it took.

Guild Wars 2 seems to rectify this a little bit by taking what works well from Guild Wars with what works well with existing MMOs, while at the same time alienating those players who got used to those original radical changes.

Funny isnt it?

------------

On topic, i tried WoW already...i didnt like it.

Default nope

Won't ever play WoW if I can help it, can't stand the way it looks. I played it for about 3 hours on a free trial and got a headache from looking at it....GW all the way.

Nah, even though with a 10 day trial. I'd still be loyal to Guild Wars.

I tried the 10 day free trial and thought that WoW was not nearly as good as GW. the only satisfaction i got out of it was making prince rurik and shouting random battle phrases at the wolves and thieves.

Exactly the way I thought. I took a look at WoW today and it just looks kinda crap. I agree with you on all that except I deemed to too crap to even consider trialling

I played wow for about a month maybe more, only get to lv 25 then stop. For me the fun factor started to drop after westfall (sp?) but the exploration bit of the game is rather good. I don't really like the graphic that much, but I will always remember the first time I got on the griffon man!, that was so cool.

But No, for me WOW won't be a good alternative to GW.

I would try out GW2 when it is released but I was so bored with GW last night that I reinstalled Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.

Me personally I am so damn bored of Guildwars I can not wait these new expansions to come out lol I also think its funny that people are complaining about how the game is going aren't you people getting bored of the same ol sh*t that guild wars keeps offering??? day after day level up ur characters do quest then hit the pvp world.... I NEED CHANGE!! Somthing i really hope the put in is a fighting system somthing like the eldar scrolls where you rely on ur player skills (you as a person) instead of the crap old way of clicking and attacking... there is NO skill in that what so ever. Well im done.
